The Kennel is owned and operated by Jason and Isabelle Hoeg. We are a small kennel which is dedicated to quality not quantity in all aspects of our business.
As one can tell, we are breeders of American Black and Tan Coonhound,
all the dogs at Nightdrifter Kennels are registered with the UKC.
These are actual working dogs, that, when let go are going hunting, but on the other hand are all Obedience trained for around home and on the job.
We were introduced to this breed in 1998 and immediatly fell in love.
We are also a bilingual family that speak French and English.
I, Jason Hoeg, do pup training, competition hunting and pleasure hunt as much as time allows. This is a passion and hobby which requires dedication and a lot of time to be invested into the dogs to end up with great hunters.
I am also Secretary and treasurer of the Pictou Cat and Coonhound Club as well as The Nova Scotia Houndsmen Association representative. Also I am a Licensed Master of Hounds for Sanction Events.
My wife Isabelle is an experienced Obedience trainer for all breeds of dogs, also involved in Conformation, competitive Obedience, agility and member of our local Kennel Club, she works with all the hounds in teaching them manners and basic commands such as "Come", "Sit", "Down", "Stay" and "Heel", her breed of choice is the Rottweiler.
We have found that the Hounds respond very well to the obedience training and are quite eager to please, it certainly makes handling them while hunting much more pleasant.
We are also a Dog Obedience School, we offer Private lessons year round with occasional Group lesson, where we concentrate on helping people understand leadership with their dogs in order to achieve obedience and a general well mannered dog.
We own and operate a Doggie Camp where we get to take care of dogs which come and stay with us while their parents are away. We really enjoy the Boarding and are very small in order to maintain the closeness and personal touch with our K9 clients, booking early is recommended.
We have now started a small Retail business to supply our clients with product which we use, recommend, all being very high in quality along with distributing Canidae and Summit Natural dog food.
We have a 4 year old son named Nathan, as a family we enjoy spending time with the dogs of course, normally always having one or two with us no matter where we go. We enjoy the beach, hiking, fishing, pretty much any outdoor activities. Nathan is very much looking forward in going Hunting with his daddy!! and hopefully will have an interest in all activities we are involved in, so far he adores the dogs and is becoming quite the little handler.
Nathan has his first Experience in the Conformation ring at the TKC May show. He showed our 2 year old Rottweiler Kruize in the Junior Handling PeeWee and had a great time, took home his first Ribbon, we are very proud of him.
